We are the heart of Rochester's "Neighborhood of the Arts," surrounded by the Memorial Art Gallery, Village Gate, ARTWalk, Craft Company #6, the Flatiron Building and the George Eastman House. Dozens of artists work in various media in our studios. See their work in the Artists section.
Tips for New Art Collectors
A new art collector? An aspiring one? Or just curious about the etiquette of visiting Anderson Alley Artists? Check out our new tips page with a few helpful ideas.
Anderson Arts Building has joined in First Friday - Citywide Gallery Night. Each First Friday will feature a different art theme. Visit our building and artist's studios on the First Friday of each month, from 6–9 PM.
The dates are: Sept 5th, Oct 3rd and Nov 7th, 2014.
Many artists open their studios for our Open House.
The dates are: Sept 13th, Oct 11th, and Nov 8th, 2014.
We also organize open studios twice a year (and sometimes have other special events).
Alley Fest is sponsored by the Anderson Building (ATM Properties) and will feature the varied and talented businesses and artists located in this vast building.
On our main stage:
- live painting and artist talk internationally recognized artist Robert Marx
- a percussion workshop and performance by former lead percussionist for the RPO John Beck
- poetry reading by Peter Connors from BOA Editions
- theatrical storytelling by local group Geri Actors
- hot and cold wax painting
- hand built ceramic sculpture
- varieties of painting and drawing
- and more!
The Alley Fest will be held Sunday August 31st from 12 - 6 pm in the alley between Anderson and Village Gate.
Our Holiday Gala Open Studio
Friday, December 5th, 2014, from 5–10 PM and
Saturday, December 6th from 11 AM–5 PM. (Note extended hours.)
In 2015, our spring event, Arti Gras, will be on: TBA
All events at the Anderson Alley Artists Studios are free and open to the public. Children are welcome too!
A Little about the Events
The artists work in fiber, painting, printmaking, pastels, ceramics, drawing, textiles, photography, mixed media, sculpture, weaving, jewelry, and book and lettering arts. You are invited to see demonstrations, ask questions, and spend a couple of hours in a very creative place!
This is a unique opportunity to visit artists in their own studios and to purchase original, one-of-a-kind artwork. Commissions are accepted and Gift Certificates are available.
