Artist Statement

Born - Rochester, NY

Andrea retired as a 30-year vocational educator and from a career in product development and marketing, primarily focused on the food & beverage industry. She spent the beginning of those professional days in NYC, consulting to and working for Madison Avenue agencies. In 2001, she was recruited by Fortune 500 companies and lived across the United States.

Today, Andrea is an award-winning and juried artist creating in her Western New York hometown. Self-taught, Andrea began painting in 2015 while living in Colorado. Her practice has evolved to the production of one-of-a-kind art pieces with distinct elements of color and texture from throw-away materials and commercial packaging. Through her art she addresses waste and the perception of imperfection by using those flawed pieces and scraps from other projects, or duds once ready for the trash, and reworks them into wall art or standalone sculptures. Her curious nature sparks a no-holds-barred mentality to constant experimentation that continues to be a stepping stone to a creative flair all her own.
